Examining the figurative paintings and mixed-media works of Yun Suknam, one might notice the artist’s particular attention to hands. In the acrylic-on-paper Even I Had Ten Hands (1985), a many-limbed mother holding babies and juggling other gendered chores symbolizes the sacrificial devotion demanded of women by the patriarchy.
