In 2014, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) executed an estimated 1,700 young men at a military base near Tikrit, in Iraq. Among the victims was a friend of Brussels-based artist Haider Jabbar, who, over the next four years, painted approximately 900 heads representing the victims of the terrorist group, known for disseminating videos online of beheadings and other atrocities it has committed. “Decapitation”
