As a response to the locale of her presentation in the Taiwan Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale, Shu Lea Cheang has devised a series of sonic, visual and participatory installations around the themes of surveillance, territory and autonomy. Within the Palazzo delle Prigioni, a former prison, Cheang’s installation 3x3x6 will reference a newly implemented architectural model in which a three-by-three-meter cell is monitored by six cameras.
