The Inevitable Descent

After the astonishing results of their spring series, expectations were high at Christie’s and Sotheby’s New York and Hong Kong outposts this fall. The Asia Week auctions in New York achieved satisfactory results that were nonetheless underwhelming in comparison to the March sales, proving that what goes up must come down. Fall auction earnings in Asia, on the other hand, remained impressive, led by offerings from the usual big names, while emerging auction favorites also enjoyed good sales.
