In 2010, after 40 years of painting, Chilean-Australian painter Juan Davila entered an unexplored, internal space new to his art practice. Davila buried his highly referential appropriations of the 1980s and the direct political critiques of the 1990s and early 2000s and began to engage in a more nuanced, less structured approach to analyze society’s unconscious.
