A prominent second-generation Gutai artist, 78-year-old Tsuyoshi Maekawa has remained active since he first started showing with the avant-garde group in 1959. He became a member of Gutai Art Association in 1962 and displayed works in every exhibition and event until it disbanded in 1972.
