ArtAsiaPacific History

Art and AsiaPacific was first published in 1993 by Fine Arts Press in Sydney. It began in supplement form, distributed with the quarterly journal Art and Australia and, like its sister publication, Art and AsiaPacific was small, square and quarterly. The magazine sought to engage with the dynamic "new" art of the region, and was in many ways more of an academic journal than a general-interest magazine. A number of the early contributors were experts from government or academia, and early exhibitions of Asian artists in Australia often took place at embassies…
