After spending nine months in a Chinese prison for pro-democracy activities in Guangzhou in 1989-90, Wang Du immigrated to France with the aid of his wife, a French citizen. Since moving to Paris, Wang has become known for his large-scale installations and sculptures that question and deconstruct the media’s power and influence on contemporary culture.
