Over the past 60 years, Yayoi Kusama has produced seemingly endless variations on a single motif: polka dots. They have appeared as negative space in her early “Infinity Net” paintings, as large vinyl balloons in Clouds (1999) and later as bulbous, convex mirrors in the installation Invisible Life (2000).
