New Prize For Iranian Art Established

LONDON — The UK-based charity Magic of Persia has established a new award for Iranian contemporary art, the Magic of Persia Contemporary Art Prize (MOP CAP).

The shortlist for the inaugural prize was announced at Magic of Persia’s second annual fundraising auction on April 11 in Dubai, where more than 50 works donated by well-known Iranian artists—including sculptor Parviz Tanavoli, filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami and Shirin Neshat and painter YZ Kami—were auctioned by Christie’s, raising USD 555,500 for the charity.
