Over the past five years, Vietnam boasted one of Asia’s fastest growing economies. The communist government’s speculative model of economic development led to an influx of international investment. As the economy flourished, notable philanthropic organizations such as the Ford Foundation, the Goethe Institute, L’Espace – The French Cultural Centre and the British Council furnished exhibition spaces and awarded grants to local artists and art programs. Simultaneously, Vietnam’s tourism thrived, and the country briefly became a destination for collectors…
