Indonesia's Biennale Bubble

It might come as a surprise to learn that in the nine months from September 2005 to May 2006, five biennials were held in Indonesia. For more than a decade, Indonesia has maintained a low profile in terms of producing iconic art events, and now, five in a row— in four cities.
