Shin Sang Ok

Legendary Korean film director Shin Sang Ok died on April 11 at the age of 80 due to complications from a 2004 liver transplant. The prolific, often controversial director was born in North Hamgyeong Province in what is now North Korea, and lived mainly in Seoul following the partition of Korea after World War II. Shin made over 70 films in his career, including a body of work in North Korea following his abduction by agents of Kim Jong Il in 1978. His earlier classics…
