Director and co-writer Hany Abu-Assad's Paradise Now is a welcome contribution to the amputated history of Palestinian cinema. It resembles Elia Suleiman's 2003 film, Divine Intervention, in which fiery explosions of violence, throbbing Arabic techno and allusions to a wrathful God disrupt the rhythmic repetition of daily Palestinian life.
