The Flight of Icarus

Daedalus, the skilled artist, sculptor, architect and engineer, along with his son Icarus, constructed wings made of wax to fly out of the labyrinth, which trapped them. Although Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too high - for the sun would melt the wax - or to fly too low - the water might weigh the wings downward - Icarus chose to fly towards the sun. Many interpret this as a tragic ending. However, what Icarus dared to do was to celebrate the glorious beauty and possibility of progress…
