TOKYO ART FAIR

On three sweltering days in early August, nearly 80 dealers and an impressive 80,000 visitors convened at the Tokyo International Forum, with its soaring, stunning and cooling glass and metal atrium, to attend the first edition of Art Fair Tokyo.

According to a local gallerist, this was a Tokyo-centric event, albeit with a number of leading Japanese dealers from Nagoya and Osaka, as well as from the capital, conspicuous by their absence. One reason for this may lie in the fact that the fair is a partial…
