Tony Albert was awarded the AUD 65,000 Fleurieu Art Prize for Landscape on June 2, for The Hand You’re Dealt (2015), a wall piece comprised of vintage playing cards that seek to subvert stereotypes of Australian Aboriginal culture.

The Arnold-Bode Prize, awarded by the city of Kassel on June 27, honored Hiwa K, a Berlin-based artist born in northern Iraq. The artist will participate in Documenta 14 in 2017.
