Hope & Glory: A Conceptual Circus
SIMON BIRCH, Crawling From the Wreckage, 2010, fluorescent living-room installation with two TV screens.

Courtesy The Birch Foundation, Hong Kong.

Schoolgirls took photographs of each other in front of shiny sculptures while young couples cooed beneath video installations—the scene resembled an amusement park rather than an exhibition of contemporary art. This was “Hope & Glory: A Conceptual Circus,” in which dozens of paintings, sculptures, installations and films by Hong Kong-based multimedia artist Simon Birch filled the entire 20,000 square feet of the ArtisTree exhibition
