In a sprawling spectacle of more than 440 works and performances at seven sites around Sydney’s harbor, the 166 artists of the 17th Biennale of Sydney combined to produce a pleasingly humorous and esoteric exhibition that dealt with artistic director David Elliott’s weighty themes of diaspora, distance and colonization.
