VARIOUS LOCATIONS — On March 9, the fourth installment of the forward-thinking Artes Mundi Prize opened at the National Museum of Cardiff, Wales, with five of the eight nominees representing Asia: Yael Bartana from Israel, Ergin Çavuşoğlu from Turkey, Chen Chieh-jen from Taiwan and Kyrgz husband-and-wife duo Gulnara Kasmalieva and Muratbek Djumaliev. Prestige and pride gave way to the frustrating absurdity of politics, however, as Kasmalieva and Djumaliev became the latest victims…
