Two of Asia's most esteemed contemporary artists will represent Thailand at the 51st Venice Biennale: Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook and the late Montien Boonma. Linked by their thematic concern with mortality, both were deeply affected by deaths in their families. Araya, born in 1957, lost her mother, father, grandfather and half-sister. Montien, born in 1953, lost his wife to cancer before he too succumbed to the disease in 2000…
