It's been ten years since Lebanese-American artist George Awde began photographing Syrian migrant workers living in Lebanon, for an ongoing investigation that now stretches across five series. These projects, "The Calm Before" (2006), "Quiet Crossings" (2007–09), "Windows"(2011– ), "Shifting Grounds" (2011–13) and "His Passing Cover" (2013–14), form the spine of Awde's work.
