A Minotaur sits gazing voyeuristically at two buxom belles from a Khajuraho temple. In another image, the Minotaur is in a more active role as the vahan, or “vehicle,” carrying the evil-slaying Indian goddess Durga, who sits astride him. These are images from Sakti Burman’s pen-and-ink and pastel works, which were displayed at Kolkata’s Akar Prakar gallery in April.
