Originally trained as an architect, Yutaka Sone’s expansive practice encompasses painting, drawing, photography, video and performance, all characterized by an intense attention to detail and an exploration of the relationship between realism and perfection. In “Island,” his fifth solo exhibition at David Zwirner, the 46-year-old Japanese artist presented an array of meticulously crafted rattan and white marble sculptures.
