“Beijing Voice,” an ongoing curatorial project inaugurated in February 2011, marks a concerted effort by the Pace gallery to cement its academic credentials in China. The first, self-reflective installment looked at the ways in which Chinese galleries are moving away from the explicit pursuit of profit toward more erudite exhibitions during a time of extreme socioeconomic development.
