As an artist, An-My Lê combines tropes from photography’s many vernaculars, which derive from its use for personal, commercial, scientific and journalistic purposes. Working with a large-format camera, Lê taps into both the medium’s role in geographical exploration, its history as a tool for political reportage and a rich tradition of landscape photography.
