Susan Dewar (1944-2001), who died in Beijing on 3 April, four weeks after suffering a brain haemorrhage from which she never regained consciousness, has been, along with her husband Bruce Gordon Doar, one of the pillars of the translation and publication of Chinese art history industry in Beijing over the last twenty-odd years.
