New currents are circulating in South East Asian waters, crossing older flows. Artists now travel to destinations closer to home, previously neglected for Europe and America. In Naguri in Japan, in Singapore, Bacolod in Philippines, at Brisbane's Asia-Pacific Triennial, artists are exhibiting, building networks of friendship and understanding across cultures previously known second-hand through metropolitan filters.
