The contemporary visual arts of Indonesia are the focus of Volume 1 Number 3 of ArtAsiaPacific. Whereas the traditional arts of Indonesia are internationally renowned and the Indonesian aesthetic sensibility is universally applauded, Indonesian contemporary art has not been documented or debated in an international context. This edition of AAP addresses current issues, profiles artists and reproduces works of art to demonstrate that contemporary art flourishes in Indonesia and, from a global perspective, is a force with which to be reckoned.
