In 1993 one of the most significant events on the Indonesian arts calendar was an exhibition that never opened. 'Pameran untuk Marsinah' (Exhibition for Marsinah) was scheduled for 12 August at Dewan Kesenian Surabaya (Surabaya Arts Centre), in the great industrial city of East Java.
