Like members of an orchestra, the fifty artists in Chiang Mai's second art festival offered a variety of tunes, unified by their common theme of social consciousness.

The festival has grown immensely since last year, drawing in artists from different circles with support from business, the wealthy and the local authority. An outdoor exhibition lasting three months, it has turned the city of Chiang Mai into the biggest open gallery in Thailand…
