‘This way - to the future!' was how Daphne Wallace, Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, translated and interpreted the Eora word yiribana. In choosing this word as the title of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Gallery at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the largest permanent display of Aboriginal art in the world, Wallace was paying tribute to the original peoples of the Sydney area.
