Modernity and Beyond

"Modernity and Beyond", the first exhibition of the newly opened Singapore Art Museum, consisted of two components mounted in twelve galleries that were once the classrooms and halls of historic St Joseph's Institution before its conversion into museum space. One component comprised a one hundred year survey of Singapore art, from the staid academic painters of the colonial period to the gung-ho mixed media artists and installationists of the present.
