Standing out against the Museum of Contemporary Art's (MCA) sleek Art Deco contours, on a scale of about one to four, is a postcard-pretty model of an uma-lulik (sacred house) from the Los Palos region of East Timor. The uma-lulik is the essence of village communities, each described as 'like a branch of a tree' and housing intangible power.
