KAORI HOMMA, Piano, 1996, handmade mulberry paper, 96 x 152 x 240 cm.

The small, rather classical exhibition space at the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation in London is filled emotionally, if not quite physically, with the ghost of a grand piano and the phantoms of the British dead from the Second World War. Japanese artist Kaori Homma has cast isolated words from war memorials around South London in handmade mulberry paper, which she has pulped and moulded in a traditional manner.
