There is a tendency in Fiji to identify art with a colonial or European privilege of taking things out of context. Simultaneously, indigenous artforms are designated as 'craft', and required to be functional. Liebling Marlowe, one of whose pieces, Tuvaga, was featured in Art and AsiaPacific (volume 2, number 4), has successfully bridged this particular cultural gap. Yet theā€¦
