Ripe cherries, luscious butterflies, iridescent lotus flowers and nude female figures appear as immaculately painted details suspended across the surface of John Young's recent paintings. His technical dexterity is evidenced by the unique combination of digital scans and painted vignettes fused with formal ease. The distinctive abstraction of Young's polychrome paintings, which comprise small coloured squares in a gridded format, is forfeited, replaced by illuminated glaciers…
