"Here and Elsewhere," at New York's New Museum, presented works by more than 45 contemporary artists from the Arab world that reflect on the indexicality of the image, its mobilization within politics and the ethical considerations inherent in image-making. The show's title derives from a 1976 film-essay by Jean-Luc Godard, Jean-Pierre Gorin and Anne-Marie Miéville, a pro-Palestinian documentary that developed into
